One of the most important traits about working efficiently is the aspect of teachability. The aspect of being someone who can be taught. When considering this definition, it has much to do about the attitude. It is the desire to listen, learn and apply oneself. If the person has a desire to grow and makes changes in the way one works, it will have a lasting bearing on the work produced as well as the overall performance of the employee. This will also help in the way that the individual sees life as well. It involves a willingness to learn, unlearn and relearn.

1. A teachable person is humble enough to graciously accept information or flaws being presented to him.

It is not easy to accept suggestions or feedback from others because it takes a dip on the ego. A teachable person knows that there is great wisdom with ones who have travelled before him or those that are travelling with him along this journey. Regardless of status, culture or colour none of these features make any changes to the wisdom one can teach. With this sort of behaviour and attitude, they will be able to gain much from the learning process.

2. A teachable person looks at failure as stepping stones to victory.

Failure is seen as a plague in our culture. There is this constant strive to be successful but what is often forgotten is that these failures teach valuable lessons for the future. They help you to understand where you have gone wrong, what you shouldn’t do in the process. It teaches you the right path to take and which road to avoid.

Failures are also encouragers to do better. They are what help you to move forward. They provide us an impetus to reach greater heights.

3. Look for teachable moments.

It happens every day and with all kinds of people. Actively seek out opportunities to learn, don’t be afraid to learn. Having a relationship with your superiors will go a long way. Being open to hear, taking what you hear with a good heart and with a heart to learn will help you grow and climb the ladder.

Teachability is a great quality that will help employees to soar in their work and become efficient in handling the affairs of their work place.
