Success – the word itself causes so much of thoughts. Parents are torn with the dilemma to adhere to the different definitions of what success is. Success has taken so many turns and shapes over different ages. It means different things to different communities in the world. However, as parents, it is important to allow our children to define success for themselves. It is important to note that children need to be informed the right definition of success as well. Children tend to understand definitions as we put it across to them.
As parents, there is this constant desire to see our children succeed. Often, we get into pushing, pulling, shoving and causing the child to do things that
they don’t want to do. This causes the child to get bitter and there is some sort of angst that develops in them.
What would be a healthy vision to display to them?

It is crucial for the parents to be involved i
n all areas of the child’s life. Developing their social circles will help the child to develop wholistically.

c. Ability to resolve the problems on their own that they might have with others.
3. Allowing them to have healthy expectations.
Successful children often have a
nd aim for healthy goals. This gives them a goal to aspire to and with expectations that are able to be fulfilled.

b. They are willing to work hard to achieve those goals.
c. They are not afraid to fail.
4. They are able to manage stress.
Stress is a natural factor in life, however, if the child is not able to manage stress, then it becomes difficult for them to manage the normal duties of life. So, it is crucial for parents to help them deal with stress healthily however, if it is not so, then it will affect the child negatively.
a. It helps them to handle difficulties that are bound to come their way as they grow older.
b. Important to normalize failure and the understanding of failure.
c. They are able to help others who find it difficult to deal with their stress.
d. They are able to lead healthy lives and will be able to handle difficulties as they come by.
5. Creating the need to see things positively.
Parents who encourage their children to see their accomplishments will help the child to celebrate their achievements and thereby being able to influence their children to look at all their experience with a positive attitude.
