What is Group Counselling and How do Groups work?
Group counselling is a small gathering of people who come together to move towards a common goal, whether it might to cope with a specific difficulty or make a positive lifestyle change. Groups are usually facilitated by a trained therapist who specializes in creating a collaborative environment conducive for growth. Most groups meet for at least an hour for a period of 6-12 weeks depending on the group therapy plan. Research has proven the effectiveness of group therapy in dealing with various practical life concerns such as overcoming addictions, managing tough emotions, challenging negative thoughts etc. aimed at improving overall well-being.
Anyone and everyone can benefit from group counselling since it addresses everything from practical life challenges to mental health complications. We encourage you to consider being part of a support group, as it can add value to your life in the following ways:
